Everything you need to know before your Cappadocia hot air balloon flight — the experience, what is included, safety, and how booking and refunds work.
- How long is a Cappadocia balloon flight?
- Most flights are airborne for about one hour; deluxe and private flights can be longer. With hotel pickup, the safety briefing, the flight itself and the landing celebration, plan for roughly 3–4 hours in total.
- What time does the flight take place?
- Balloons fly at sunrise, when the air is calmest. Pickup is before dawn; your exact pickup time is confirmed the evening before, once the next morning’s conditions are known.
- What is included in the price?
- Hotel pickup and drop-off, the flight, a traditional post-landing celebration and a flight certificate, plus passenger insurance. Extras such as breakfast vary by operator and are listed on each flight’s page.
- Is hotel pickup included?
- Yes — pickup and drop-off from Göreme and nearby areas (Ürgüp, Uçhisar, Nevşehir and others) are included and confirmed when you book.
- What should I wear and bring?
- Comfortable, layered clothing and flat closed-toe shoes; mornings are cool even in summer. Bring a hat and your camera or phone (with a strap or secured pocket). Avoid loose items that could be dropped.
- Is hot air ballooning in Cappadocia safe?
- Flights are run only by SHGM-licensed operators with certified pilots, and every passenger is insured. Balloons fly only when the weather and the civil-aviation authorities permit — safety always comes first.
- What happens if my flight is cancelled for weather?
- If the operator or the authorities cancel for weather or safety, the amount you paid is refunded in full. We do not move you to another date automatically: prices and availability change by date, so another morning is a new booking at the price available then, and we are happy to help you find one.
- How high does the balloon fly?
- It depends on the morning’s conditions. Balloons typically climb to several hundred metres and sometimes up to around 1,000 m, then descend to drift gently between the valleys and fairy chimneys.
- Are there age, health or pregnancy restrictions?
- Children are usually welcome above a minimum height. For safety, pregnancy and certain mobility or health conditions may not be suitable — if in doubt, please ask us before booking.
- How many people are in a balloon basket?
- It depends on the flight type. Standard flights use larger baskets that carry more passengers, while deluxe and private flights use smaller baskets for a more exclusive experience. The capacity is shown on each flight’s page.
- How do I pay?
- Online payment is coming soon. For now, you send a reservation request with no payment, and our team confirms availability and guides you through payment.
- Can I cancel and get a refund?
- Yes. Sending a reservation request costs nothing, so there is nothing to refund at that stage. Once our team confirms your place, we tell you the cancellation policy in writing before you pay anything, and any refund follows that policy.
- Does it fly year-round, and which mornings are best?
